
Strategic design and promotion of Deakin’s research impact and innovations.
While working internally as the senior creative lead of Deakin Universities Research Marketing and Communications team I provided high-level support to increase visibility of Deakin Universities research to interstate and international audiences. Now in an external role my familiarisation of the Deakin visual style guide and my years of design experience allow me to produce effective design resources for a range of teams across the University.
Research
Projects
High-quality graphics and visuals that align to the over-arching style guide while giving groups and projects a specific cohesive aesthetic that meets their needs.
Promo materials
Project branding and materials such as pull up banners also function as brand awareness in launch photography and videography that has a large audience often seen in news/media featuring members of parliament
Industry focussed
Typically research groups and projects required complex scientific material to be easily digestible by a range of audiences from academic partners and funding partners to government and public audiences. Art direction of imagery is also a important aspect ensuring imagery expresses the strategic direction and connects with the intended audience.
Event support
Working with the internal events team I produce event materials in a range of aspect ratios to suit all manner of end uses such as digital lectern, digital signage, EDM, social media, web and print applications.
Outdoor
Creating design for a range of outdoor applications such as conferences, exhibitions, community events requires an understanding of the environment and viewing distance this content will be consumed at. Creating interest and increasing brand awareness from a distance while educating and funnelling to a clear call to action is essential for a successful outdoor large scale piece.
Research reports
Producing professionally designed research reports reflects well on the researcher and the University, contributing to their reputation and enhancing future opportunities for funding and collaboration. Utilising my design skills makes it easier for readers to understand the research objectives, methodology, findings, and conclusions. This is essential for effective communication of complex information.
Social media
Posts that consistently reflect the brand's identity are more likely to engage the audience. Consistent branding creates a familiar environment that encourages interactions, shares, and comments, boosting overall engagement rates.
Industry partners
Industry partnerships ensure that research has practical applications. Collaborating with industry helps align research objectives with market needs, increasing the likelihood that research outcomes will be implemented and have a tangible impact.
